We use cookies to make our site easier and more intuitive. The data collected through cookies is used to make the browsing experience more pleasant and more efficient in the future.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files sent by the site to the user's device (usually to the browser), where they are stored to be sent back to the site upon the user's next visit. A cookie cannot retrieve any other data from the user's hard drive nor transmit computer viruses or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique to the user's web browser. Some of the functions of cookies may be delegated to other technologies. In this document, the term 'cookie' is intended to refer both to cookies in the strict sense and to all similar technologies.
Types of cookies
Cookies can be first-party or third-party, where "first-party" refers to cookies that have the site as their domain, while "third-party" refers to cookies that are related to external domains.
Third-party cookies are necessarily installed by an external entity, always defined as a "third party", not managed by the site. These entities may also install first-party cookies, saving their own cookies on the site's domain.
Another type of cookie is the so-called "Flash Cookie" (Local Shared Objects), used within Adobe Flash Player to deliver certain content, such as video clips or animations, in order to remember settings and preferences. Flash cookies are stored on the device, but are managed through a different interface than the one provided by the browser used.
Nature of cookies
Regarding the nature of cookies, there are different types:
Technical cookies
Technical cookies are those used solely for the purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service" (see art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or manager of the website. They can be divided into:
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are intended to create user profiles and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web.
The use of profiling cookies requires the consent of the data subject. According to the provision (more information in the Cookie Management paragraph below) the user can authorize or deny consent to the installation of cookies through the options provided in the "Cookie Management" section.
In the case of third-party cookies, the site does not have direct control over individual cookies and cannot control them (it can neither install them directly nor delete them). However, you can manage these cookies through your browser settings (follow the instructions provided below), or through the sites indicated in the "Cookie Management" section.
Cookie duration
Cookies have a duration dictated by the expiration date (or by a specific action such as closing the browser) set at the time of installation. Cookies can be:
